The arrest of Phil Spector:
He was one of the biggest names in the music business, hitting the top in pop, rock, girl groups and rhythm and blues.
He wasn't a famous singer but made his claim to fame as a song writer and producer – with his famous "wall of sound".
A great example of it was the 1963 hit by the Ronettes, "Be My Baby" in which his soon to be wife Ronnie Spector sang the lead.
Spector worked with several huge acts, from the Beatles to Ellie Greenwich to Harry Nielsen to the Ramone's and The Righteous Brothers. He's a member of the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame as a non-performer and was also inducted into the songwriter's Hall of Fame.
He's also in prison as a convicted murderer.
In February 2003, actress Lana Clarkson…
…was found dead in Spector's mansion in Alhambra, California.
She was found slumped in a chair with a single gunshot wound in her mouth and broken teeth scattered all over the carpet.
Spector claimed in a magazine interview that it was an accidental suicide and that she kissed the gun. But the emergency call from Spector's driver quoted Phil as saying "I think I've killed someone." And the driver added that he saw Spector come out of the house with a gun in his hand.
A prosecution document showed Spector had previously pulled a gun on four women that he dated.
In part because of his tremors and his bizarre appearance because of a wig…
…Spector's first trial on the charges ended with a mistrial.
But at his second trial, he was convicted.
Now, the man who invented the "Wall of Sound" is staring at prison walls for 19 years to life in the California state prison system.
