The arrest of Glen Campbell:
He had a series of country music hit records in the 1960's and 70's and hosted a popular variety show on CBS-TV.
Glen Travis Campbell, a native of Arkansas, was the seventh son in his family of 12 siblings and he released more than 70 albums in his half century music career.
He also made history by winning four Grammy Awards in both the pop and country categories in 1967.
One of his best remembered hits was "Gentle on My Mind"
Bigger hits followed, like "By the Time I Get to Phoenix", "Wichita Lineman" and "Rhinestone Cowboy" among others.
He also played with "The Beach Boys".
His one big legal brush came in November 2003 when he was arrested on drunk driving and hit and run charges. Arizona police says he fled the scene after the crash but was arrested at his nearby home.
Police smelled alcohol on his breath and after Campbell was booked at the Maricopa County jail, he kneed one of the cops in the thigh. He was tagged with aggravated assault on a police officer for that. He ended up pleading guilty to extreme DUI and leaving the scene of an accident. He got ten nights in the slammer.
Married four times, Glen has five sons and three daughters. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2011 and in April 2014, following a 2012 goodbye tour; Glen became a patient in an Alzheimer's long term care facility.
