The arrest of Patty Hearst:
Born to privilege, this American socialite and newspaper heiress is also remembered as a kidnap victim and convicted bank robber.
Patricia Campbell Hearst is the grand-daughter of the publishing giant William Randolph Hearst and was raised in style.
However, in 1974 when she was only 20 years old, she was kidnapped by a radical group calling itself the Symbionese Liberation Army and later joined her captors in their cause.
So much so, she took part in a bank robbery with other SLA members…
…and was convicted.
Hearst served almost two years in prison before President Jimmy Carter commuted her sentence and in 2001, was pardoned by President Bill Clinton in his last official act before leaving office.
After leaving prison, she married her former bodyguard Bernard Shaw
...and they had two children. She also took some minor acting parts and saw several filmed versions of her story.
