The arrest of Manny Ramirez:
A star slugger and the 2004 World Series MVP, Manny Ramirez was one of the leading sluggers in Major League Baseball. He started his career in 1993 with the Cleveland Indians…
…and enjoyed his greatest successes with the Boston Red Sox, whom he joined in 2000. Manny helped the Sox win their first World Series championship in 86 years in 2004 and again in 2007…
…as he and David "Big Papi" Ortiz provided a potent one-two batting punch.
He then went on to play for a few seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago White Sox and Tampa Bay Rays.
Here are some career high points, provided by MLB Highlights, 2012.
A native of the Dominican Republic, Manny was raised Washington Heights, in New York City. He was one of the City's most successful student athletes but was a controversial figure too.
While his talent as a hitter was never questioned, while playing for the Rays, he tested positive for a performance enhancing drug and chose to retire rather than accept a 100-game suspension.
Bigger problems followed in September 2011 when he was arrested on a charge of domestic battery in an incident involving his wife, Juliana. He pleaded not guilty and his wife later refused to cooperate with the investigation so the charges were dismissed.
And Manny would later sign a minor league deal as a player-coach for a Chicago Cubs' farm team, the Iowa Cubs.
