The arrests of Nick Nolte:
He's a versatile actor who's been nominated for two Best Actor Oscars and one for "Best Supporting Actor" over the course of his long and successful career.
Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Nicholas King Nolte's breakout role was in the 1976 TV miniseries "Rich Man, Poor Man", based on a best-selling novel by Irwin Shaw.
After that, he played in a wide range of roles. He got his first Best Actor nomination for his part in "The Prince of Tides", co-starring Barbra Streisand.
A second "Best Actor" nomination came for "Affliction".
And Nolte got a "Best Supporting Actor" nod for "Warrior'. His other major film roles included "Lorenzo's Oil,", "Cape Fear", "Another 48 Hours" and several other box office hits.
Nick's been married three times, to Sheila Page, Sharyn Haddad and Rebecca Linger, with whom he has a son, Brawley Nolte.
Nick was arrested twice.
The first came in 1965 for selling counterfeit document and he got a sentence of 45 days in jail and a $75,000 fine. However, that sentence was suspended.
In September 2002, Nolte was picked up on suspicion of drunken driving in Malibu, California.
He checked into Connecticut's Silver Hill Hospital a few days later and tests showed he was under the influence of GHB, categorized as an illegal drug in several countries.
By December 2002, he pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and was given three years' probation, along with orders to drug and alcohol counseling along with a requirement of random testing.
